A Shrine to Love - Taj Mahal

I have probably known about the Taj Mahal since I had been 7 years old it is one of the iconic monuments whose form is burned into the world imagery at childhood days. I hardly ever really considered actually viewing it, until I prepared this visit to Asia. Certainly, if I would India, I would go to the Taj Mahal - you have to right?

My travel mates and I were actually more willing to miss the Taj than you may imagine. The sketch of the traditional "sightseeing" vacation spot is not especially strong for me personally, or my friends, for reasons unknown. I don't happen to be "say I am there" or show people pictures of myself before some monument (sorry, I want to just dismount from my high - horse real quick). But significantly, the Taj Mahal is one and only works of genius that whenever you truly experience it personally you finally obtain it. You get why you have seen pictures of the place because you were a youngster you get why millions of people come here every year. You get why the UNESCO world heritage site and on the new 7 wonders of the world list. I experienced the same way when I observed Michelangelo's David in Florence - Ah, okay, that's amazingly beautiful (and makes me feel just like failing in life). But I obtain it now.

We required the 6 AM train to Agra from New Delhi, with a returning ticket for later that night. When we found its way to Agra (around 8 AM, although check the train timetables because various other trains take up to 4 hours), we negotiated a good rate with a Tuk - Tuk driver to get us the Taj Mahal, but there are pre - paid taxis as well just beyond your place. Our driver was an extremely nice and helpful guy, so we finished up getting a day - rate around 400 INR (under $8) to consider us around all day every day and eventually back again to the place at night, which finished up being really worth it. You may get cheaper trips, but he was a stand - up guy and we did not mind paying to get him stick to us.

The ticket for the Taj Mahal is 750 INR ($14), which is just about the most I allocated to any one part of the complete country! (Be sure you go directly to the legit ticket - counter, because, like New Delhi, Agra is teeming with hustlers). Entry to the lands is simple and within minutes, you are walking through the red sand stone outer walls of the compound, with the Taj still out of site. The Great Gate (Darwaza - I - Rauza) that is about the gardens surrounding the Taj Mahal is impressive itself, manufactured from red sand stone with intricate marble work, imposing archways, and domed Chhatris at the top corners. Not really a bad entry - way! For another there I forgot what we would go there to see.

Then we passed through the Great Gate archway which starts up in to the gardens surrounding that mausoleum that people have come here to see. The view of the Taj Mahal from the key entry is the fact that snapshot you has seen thousand times, which will more to show the limits of photography than the wonder of the place. Over the few hundred meters of immaculately maintained landscapes, a perspective haze spirit on the building, just like a mountain range between afar. From that distance, it generally does not quite look real it is the kind of view that could have made a Mughal Emperor proud (...I guess that was type of the idea). At that time, from that point of view, the architectural ingenuity, imagination, and creativity transcend the building's own frame work. I am nearly heading in the fan member for exorbitant shows of prosperity and empirical extra, but the understanding of the Taj Mahal as an innovative masterpiece is all I possibly could help however the process. It is no unknown why almost all of the pictures you observe of the architectural masterpiece are out of this very spot. At that time, from a couple of meters away, my first impression of was, "Damn. I obtain it. I am really glad I didn't miss this.
