For any Hindu, Pushkar
is a very important pilgrim center. According to the fiction, Pushkar means a
pond created by flower. It was formed when Brahma dropped a lotus flower on the
earth to establish a place for his “yagna”, a holy sacrifice.
Pushkar, meaning born
from a flower, is one of the oldest cities in India and with its history dating
back to the legends associated with Lord Brahma. Situated 11 km North-West of
Ajmer, it is one of the five blessed dhams and is often called "Tirth
Raj" - the king of pilgrimage sites. In recent years, Pushkar has become a
most famous destination for foreign tourists because of the numerous temples it
harbors.
Lying on the Coast of
Pushkar Lake, it has five main temples, many smaller ones, and 52 Ghats where
pilgrims come to immerse in its sacred waters from across the subcontinent.

to reach:
Air:
The nearest airport is Jaipur, which is 135 kms away from Pushkar.
Train:
Pushkar is on the Delhi- Jaipur -Marwar-Ahmedabad-Mumbai line and most trains
stop at Ajmer. Ajmer is the main point to reach Pushkar.
Road:
It is connected with bus from all places like Jaipur, Agra, Bharatpur, Barmer, Aligarh,
and Abu road, Bikaner, Haridwar, Chittorgarh, Jodhpur, Jaisalmer and Nagaur.

Brahma
Temple: This famous temple was
built in 14th century and is the only temple dedicated to Lord Brahma. The only
Brahma temple in India, it is a very popular excursion of Hindus.
Pushkar
Camel Fair: Pushkar is known for
its Camel Fair, this is one of the
largest fair in India and the only one of its kind in the entire world. During
this fair, lakes of people gather to Pushkar, along with camels and cattle for
trading of live stock, horse dealing, pilgrimage and a religious festival.
